Recording of "Big Bully"

This December the after school program had the opportunity to work with the resident Musician at Urban Arts, Neal Swanger. Neal and his team recorded students singing and performing "The Big Bully Song". It was a amazing chance for the students to explore their musical talents.

Artist of the Month - November 2011

José Guadalupe Posada
(1852-1913)

This month we have continued our celebration of Dia de los Muertos by honoring, artist of the month, Jose Posada. Posada was a Mexican cartoonist, lithographer and printmaker during Mexico’s pre-revolution time. Posada is widely popular for his works called Calaveras, which feature themes of either religious or a satire of upper-class life. Many of Posada images are still used today and associated with Dias de los Muertos. The After School program created etchings in honor of the famous lithographer that displayed during Family Night. Also during family night the children showed off their abilities on the stilts, “Day of the Dead” puppets and costumes.
